# Updating a tag in all files

Hi there. When editing a tag that is already created and assigned to several files, do the changes automatically apply to all the files already tagged ? (For instance, when the tag “test1” is edited in “tested2”, will “test2” replace “test1” everywhere ?). Many thanks in advance.

No, this is not the case, since the tags are saved no in a central database. As a workarround you can find all files tagged with “test1” and apply a new tag “test2” to these files and remove the tag “test1”.
