Include HEIC image file formats

Hello
I use a huge database of imported images from macos photos in HEIC format. Is it possible on a later release to preview them at tagspaces browser as other common image formats?
thank you

I would love to see support for HEIF as well since all of my digital photos are in this format.

Dear Developers,

I would like to bring to your attention that most iPhone users save their photos in the .HEIC format. I kindly request that you consider adding support for this format to your application.

As a workaround, I have added .heic under Settings > File Types along with an image viewer, but unfortunately, this solution operates slowly.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to seeing this feature in future updates!

I just want to dig up this thread: I really like TagSpaces.
I discovered it yesterday in search of a tool to tag and categorize a large number of videos and images, used for Social Media videos and posts. It really seems perfect for the job.
But: the images from my iPhone (HEIC format) are not readable at all, which is a real shame. Could this functionality please be added to the image viewer? It would be the last piece of puzzle for my new workflow.

I need this feature, too.

Previewing of HEIC images will be supported in the next version 6.5.x.

This is a great addition and helps me a lot. Thanks!

Just trying TagSpaces for the first time and the lack of support for HEIC was first thin I noticed, given I have years of photos in this format. I am on 6.5.1lite but assuming you mean it won’t be out until 6.5.2 is released? Or maybe there is a method to grab it on Github now even if not on main marketing site? Thanks for all your work on this.

Below is an easy one file shell script you can run to generate JPG thumbs in your .ts folder for HEIC images while @ilian works on broader support. My tests show that now a thumb is generated but only on clicking the actual file and not across an entire directory, which essentially means the feature is not working since preview is so important if you commit to HEIC across thousands of Photos. This version only creates the thumb and not the sidecar with the ID in it and I am not sure whether the lack of this will cause an issue at some point but right now, it works and I just got TagSpaces to behave with HEIC in short order and I can easily just keep this script in my common scripts folder and run it when I update my photo library.
