Search using Smart Tags

Smart tags are an effortless way to add time tags to files with just drag and drop - but once you go to search for those conveniently tagged item, you have to type in the date (for example).
Being able to use smart tags in search would be powerful.
Currently:

  • Unable to get “+ 20240308” to return a Smart Tag in the search bar when a file has “20240308” as a tag due from using the “today” smart tag.
  • No “Show files with this Tag” functionality for Smart Tags.
  • Searching for “20240308” string with fuzzy doesn’t return a file that has the 20240308 created smart tag
  • Using the Time period search does not bring up the tagged file
  • The search setting dropdown → Modified Date works with “Today” (and is the only way to find a Smart Date Tag) - but the other options don’t map to smart tag concepts. “Last 30 days” is not the same as “month” smart tag.

Proposal: The smart tags are doing date math for you and outputting a standard YYYYMMDD (etc.) tag that is stored in the file name (my setting). So to implement Smart tags in search, use the same logic to generate the tag string (“today” → “20240308”) and make the button act as if it were a standard tag with that value. Right clicking on today would do a real “+20240308” search in the search bar.
