Sort by date of creation vs. first tag vs. changing tag order

Hello,

I’m currently migrating from DEVONthink to TagSpaces and have a question regarding the date of creation. When migrating from DT I save the date of creation, as stored in DT and the macOS file system, into a tag in the filename. I also make sure it’s the first tag in the filename. This way I can sort via “first tag” in TS, which works, but feels a bit clumsy.

However, when I import a file created elsewhere, it might not have a first tag which is a datetimestamp. It might look like this (test filename):

test2[★★★★★ ☆☆☆☆☆ 20260309T162717].md

This gets sorted in the wrong way. There are two issues with this:

  1. I can’t change the order of the tags by dragging the tags in the Tags area in the Details pane.
  2. I can’t sort with “first datetime tag”, because there’s no such criteria available.

Am I holding it wrong? :slightly_smiling_face:

What’s the proper way of dealing with the date of creation in TagSpaces?
