Licensure system is broken, or badly implemented

I recently opened TagSpaces and received a prompt to upgrade to the latest version.

When I went to my email from my original purchase and attempted to download it (as instructed) it only offered me the opportunity to download an older version than the one I already have.

I thought, maybe I remembered wrong and my licensee needs updateing. Maybe I need to pay monthly to get my updated version. So I want to the payment page and bought a perpetual license for $112 plus tax to avoid this in the future.

When I got the email response, it turns out I had ALREADY PAID for a perpetual license a few months back but that “perpetual” license wouldn’t allow me to download the latest version. My new “perpetual license” will allow me to download that version.

This system of “the user has to keep the email saying they have a license or too bad” is unacceptable. If you sell someone a license for software, it is YOUR COMPANY’S responsibility to keep track of their account, not the user.

I like this software, but I can’t recommend it to anyone anymore (except for the free version) because of the way you run your business.

You do not have to buy a new perpetual license in order to get the latest version of TagSpaces Pro. You can go to this site and see what you have already purchased and download the needed versions after entering the email with which you have purchased TagSpaces Pro: FastSpring Checkout

For which operating system are you trying to get update?

I am using Windows 64 bit.

Unfortunately, I have already paid twice now.

My “account” I paid for in June only allows download of 6.4.9.

The new account I just paid for allows me to download 6.5.3

They should both be the same if it was a perpetual license, shoudn’t it?

The links in the both purchases product should download the latest version, despite the fact that the old version is written in the link. Once the files is downloaded it will be saved with the correct file name. Regarding your both purchased versions, if you need just one license I can initiate the refund process of your last purchase.

I bought lifetime pro on 10-10-2025, and got the notification that there is an update, so I went to the orders, and I used the old link in the invoice as you say above, but all it does is download (the version at my time of purchase) “tagspaces-pro-linux-x64-6.6.3”. I confirmed they have the same checksum, and it doesn’t seem to work (change to the correct and latest version after full download) the way you say it should. I can do a screen recording to show you.

Have you tried to download the latest version from here: FastSpring Checkout ?

Some users are reporting that the when they use the links from the purchase confirmation email, the downloaded files have a wrong version number in the name. But downloaded file is actually the latest available version, which is visible after the installation of the app.

@ilian I did check again. Last time, I only tried to download “tagspaces-pro-linux-x64-6.6.3.tar.gz”, (and is still downloading the old 6.6.3), but this time I tried the appimage and the deb, and they did download 6.6.4. So please fix the tar.gz version for linux, because I like using that one. Thanks. I like the program.

thanks for pointing this our, the tar.gz package was not updated, it should work now!

Thank you, I appreciate it!
