Tags have been the most natural and effective way of organizing notes files for me. I have given a good faith try to Obsidian’s linking capabilities. I am not comfortable with it. I wish I had known about Tagspace before investing myself so heavily into Obsidian.
The most effective experience I’ve had is with Tiddlywiki’s tiddlers as tags concept—notes as tags/tags as notes.
My all-time favorite writing tool was MaxThink, an MSDOS outliner. It was powerful. It never made to graphical operating environment. I have felt crippled as a writer without it ever since. Nothing compares.
One concern I have about Tagspaces is that while I have a recent Macbook Air, I spend most of my time on my iPad.
