I have scanned an archive of 16,000 documents into JPEG files.
In order to find, access, and use the archived JPEG documents, I plan to review each and attach relevant tags.
Once each file is tagged, I can then search and retrieve specific documents regarding specific issues, to/from specific people.
Without tagging, the JPEG files are a nightmare to try to find a specific document.
So, it seemed that TagSpaces was perfect.
After installation, I tried a couple of tests on folders with smaller groups of JPEGs. I tagged them, searched and retrieved exactly as TagSpaces advertises.
With those trials successful, I created a Location for my intended use: Gumberg Papers—Wisconsin Historical Society. The root folder has 18 subfolders. Each subfolder has 1 to 16 subfolders. Each of those folders has from 1 to a thousand JPEG files.
I began tagging the JPEGs in the first sub-sub-folder. There are about 50 files. My tag hierarchy for those 50 files includes about 8 tag groups. One group has about 100 tags. The other groups have 2-20 tags.
After tagging the files in the first sub-sub-folder, I tried searching on tags. The program goes into an never-ending searching loop, never returning results.
See screenshot below:
I can find no solution.
If it worked as advertised I would absolutely love it. At this point, it is just frustrating, and has cost me a couple days of wasted effort.
Please help me make this work.
