Invalid Characters in Path

Hello, I have recently started using tagspaces. I am running it on my external hard drive where I keep all my photos/videos that I want to tag out. However, since I have non-English texts and spaces in my folder names and some files, tagspaces returns with an “invalid character in path” error. Is there a way to get around this? Or should I change all my folders and file names so that it’ll be tagspaces-friendly?

Hi, these are usually non-UTF8 characters. What kind of files system do you have on your external hard drive? In general when you remove/replace the special characters TagSpaces should be able to open the folder correctly. UTF8 special characters are definitely supported in the app.

Hello, thank you for your response!

I found out that yes, tagspaces does support these characters, and instead, after a closer look, it looks like tagspaces is trying to make a folder with path something like this (I am on windows):

D:\Media\D:\Media\……..the rest of the path

Where the path for the location ( D:\Media) is repeated twice in the beginning - which is invalid.

However, it seems to be working fine so maybe it’s not that big of a deal?

Also, is it normal for tagspaces to crash whenever I try to tag too many files at once? Maybe because of memory overload?

Edit: the file system my external hard drive uses is NTFS

Can you please show where do you get the doubling of the folder path. Maybe with screenshot and a version of TagSpaces?
